COVID VACCINATION POLICY

On 8/31/2021, the Colorado State Board of Health (BOH) voted to approve a proposed emergency rule (http://coha.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT0zNDE3MTUwJnA9MSZ1PTQxNTU4NDY0NyZsaT0zMTMyNTY3Ng/index.html) from CDPHE, which requires licensed health care facilities to mandate their personnel (i.e., employees, direct contractors, and support staff) to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Effective immediately:

* All health care workers, support staff, and direct contractors must have their first COVID-19 vaccine dose by Thursday, Sept. 30, and their second dose by Sunday, Oct. 31.

* The rule applies to all CDPHE-regulated health care facilities, and facilities must maintain documentation of proof of vaccination or medical/religious exemption for each required health care worker.


MARIJUANA POLICY

Although possession and use of marijuana for certain medical conditions and recreational use is no longer a crime in the State of Colorado, it remains unacceptable for an SHS employee to be in possession or under the influence of marijuana while s/he is an employee of SHS. Possession and use of marijuana is inconsistent with the hospitals ethics and conduct code, substance use policy and federal law, including the Controlled Substances Act, which considers it a Class I Substance. Any positive result associated with a drug screening test for marijuana, including but not limited to the result of use of marijuana where it is legal or use associated with a medical marijuana card, will be considered a violation of this policy and will result in an employee being subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
